Christmas Concert - Tuesday 12th December 2023

Choral and vocal music by Bach, Handel, Britten and Rutter, together with well loved carols for all to sing.
Held by kind permission of the Rector and churchwardens at St Wilfrid’s Parish Church, Church St, Davenham, CW9 8NF.
The concert commences at 7:30 pm.
The admission charge is £5 for adults, with accompanied under 16s free.

Summer Concert - Saturday 24th June 2023

"Music for a Summer’s Evening" from the Rivendell Singers, featuring 'Dances of Time' by Bob Chilcott and a selection of folksongs of the British Isles, English madrigals and European sacred music.
The concert commences at 7:30 pm.
The admission charge is £5 for adults, £10 for families.



Spring Concert - Saturday 18th March 2023

The concert will include 'Magnificat' by Francesco Durante, 'Dances of Time' by Bob Chilcott and 'Zadok the Priest' by George Frideric Handel together with other music by Dowland, Bach, Franck and Sondheim.
The concert commences at 7:30 pm.
The admission charge is £5 for adults, with accompanied under 18s free. Refreshments will be available.



Choral Singing Workshop Day - Saturday 15th October 2022

image St John's Church Centre, Hartford, Northwich

We are a friendly mixed choir with a wide and varied repertoire, who are always keen to recruit new members. Our current members' experience ranges from beginner to semi-professional. We do not audition, and although some ability to read music is preferable, it is by no means essential. We are holding a Choral Singing Workshop Day at St John's Church Centre, Hartford, at which you can find out more about us.
We will be singing 'Dances of Time' by Bob Chilcott. (A performance is available on YouTube.)

Another popular and enjoyable December afternoon return visit to the Lion Salt Works Museum on their Victorian Christmas event, to raise a festive glass with Christmas carols sung by the Rivendell Singers - Do come along and join us from 1:00 pm!

image Cuddington & Sandiway Village Hall - Christmas Carol Concert

The Rivendell Singers and Sandiway Village Hall Committee presents "A Christmas Cornucopia". The Rivendell Singers will perform the Magnificat by Pergolesi along with a collection of carols and festive songs to relax or singalong to. Mulled wine and mince pies will be included in the £8 ticket price with proceeds going to Motor Neurone Disease Association.

The Rivendell Singers will be performing alongside a number of choirs including the Bostock Singers, Grange School choir at the St John's annual Hartford Victorian Christmas event. The event will as always have many stalls with interesting gift opportunities, snacks and more and is always well attended - doors open from 10am and the Rivendell Singers will be singing from 1:30 pm.



Choir News - November 2019

imageHaving performed our 2019 Spring concert at St Wilfrid's Church in Davenham and received such fabulous audience feedback - we would like to thank all who attended and for your kind words and support we have received.

In addition to the Rivendell Singers singing at a private wedding ceremony, our Summer concert at Delamere Park in Cuddington, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support was an outstanding sell-out success! The Summer Concert offered an interesting and varied programme of music, from Bob Chilcott's Little Jazz Mass, through popular jazz classics, to a number of familiar wartime songs to a collection of well known sacred music - something to suit all tastes !

We are now focusing our efforts towards our Autumn and Christmas events for this season - Please check out our Events calendar below for details.

We would like to offer a warm welcome to our latest newcomers (and those also returning to sing with us), who have joined the Rivendell Singers choir this term - Wendy Macdonald (Alto), Bridget Robson, Corryn Walsh and Sheelagh Wilde (Sopranos).

The 2019 Rivendell Singers Autumn Concert is scheduled for Saturday 28th September at Holy Trinity, Castle. The concert will follow on from the mid Summer performance at Delamere Park with a musical collection including The Little Jazz Mass by Bob Chilcott, a mix of classic jazz pieces, singalong songs from the war years and a mix of popular sacred pieces to offer a wide spectrum of musical interest for the evening. For those who enjoyed our mid summer concert and indeed the many who were unable to obtain tickets for the sell out at Delamere Park, please join us at Holy Trinity to be entertained with this truly enjoyable mix of genres and musical tastes in a wonderful and welcoming Holy Trinity Church surrounding - FREE Entry with donations to a Local Charity.

The 2019 Rivendell Singers Summer Concert was performed to a sell-out audience at Delamere Park Clubhouse Cuddington on Saturday 6th July. The concert was in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support and we are pleased to announce that we were able to raise £ 1,096.70 for this important charity. The musical collection included The Little Jazz Mass by Bob Chilcott, a mix of classic jazz pieces, singalong songs from the war years and a mix of popular sacred pieces to offer a wide spectrum of musical interest for the evening. The evening included a number of solos and duets and with a refreshment and a slice of cake and a charity raffle it proved to be a full nights feast of music and entertainment.

The Rivendell Singers performed a musical collection supported by talented soloists and a chamber orchestra for their 2019 Spring Concert. The choir delivered the wonderful St. Cecilia Mass by Charles Gounod as the headline piece, with full support from a 10 piece chamber orchestra and three vocal soloists Emma Morley, James Hall and David Hay. This is such a powerful and meaningful piece which was wonderfully delivered by all the players and received so well by the packed audience. Also performed on the night, music by Handel, Fauré and Viadana, plus a mix of classic jazz songs accompanied by a jazz trio and individual solo pieces to complete a wonderful evening of music.

This special pre-Christmas concert was added to our programme in addition to our familiar fayre of Christmas songs and carols but also included a selection of songs from the war years in commemoration of this years centenary of the first world war. We also performed the wonderful Jazz Mass by Bob Chilcott along with other assorted well known foot tapping jazz standards.



Live Show - Saturday 10th November 2018

image The Grange Theatre, Hartford

The Rivendell Singers were pleased to be part of the new musical "Keep the Home Fires Burning" which toured the UK in 2018. Performed at the Grange School Theatre in Hartford on Saturday 10th November 2018, the Rivendell Singers supported the travelling cast in this world war one Centenary musical commemoration. The show performed and presented the story of soldiers as they left England to fight in the trenches of the first world war, told by eight actors and expressed by 30 songs from the period and supported by the Rivendell Singers choir and on stage musicians.

A wonderful evenings entertainment and a great success with the evening going down a storm, the Producer thanked the Rivendell Singers for their excellent singing and welcomed the choir to be part of a future possible production - watch this space !

This years Spring concert featured the Rivendell Singers choir, soloists and instrumentalists performing Bob Chilcott "Requiem", Ralph Vaughan Williams "Five Mystical Songs" and music by Rutter, Haydn and Mozart. Tickets are £8 for adults, with accompanied under 16s free.

The Rivendell Singers and Sandiway Village Hall Committee presented a "Christmas Cornucopia, this year with a difference". The Rivendell Singers performed a Christmas celebration of carols and songs including a performance of Christmas Fantasia by R. Vaughan Williams. Mulled wine and mince pies were also a most suitable accompaniment ! Proceeds going to St. Luke's Hospice.

We were looking forward to our return in December 2017 to Saint Wenefrede's Church and even a fall snow and ice was not going to dampen our enthusiasm, the concert in this wonderful church still went ahead making a throughly enjoyable evening of festive music here in Bickley.

image St Helen's Parish Church, Witton - in Concert with Bostock Band

The Rivendell Singers joined the fabulous Bostock Band in a joint concert of music and singing. The programme included songs from John Rutter and Boubil/Schonberg's 'Les Miserables' and a finale 'singalong' performance alongside the Bostock Band with Rodgers and Hammerstein's You'll never walk alone. A great evenings entertainment was had by all !

image St Wilfrid's Parish Church, Davenham - Rivendell Singers in Concert

The Rivendell Singers presented Sprig of Thyme by John Rutter and Bob Chilcott's 'A Little Jazz Mass' in our spring concert for 2017. A 'Little Jazz Mass' was performed and accompanied by an instrumental jazz trio as well as individual guest performances from Emily Jacques from the Halle youth choir and from Rivendell's baritone soloist David Hay. The jazz trio also performed a collection of well known instrumental jazz standards to complete an exciting night of musical entertainment.
